Date night? Quick dinner? In the mood for deliciousness? Here’s what you need and how to make pizza that will blow your mind!
Ingredients
1 fresh pizza dough (At Whole Foods ask the pizza counter, or sub gluten free crust of choice)
1 large yellow onion
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon avocado oil
1 Cup low moisture mozzarella
2 links mild Italian chicken sausage
1 firm Bartlett pear, thinly sliced
1/4 Cup pomegranate seeds
1/4 Cup fresh basil
Directions
1. Cut onion in half length wise then thinly slice. Heat a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil, onions and sprinkle sea salt. Cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring every 2-3 minutes until caramelized. Remove onions from pan and let cool.
2. In the same pan, brown chicken sausage by removing the chicken sausage the casing and form 1 inch meatballs. Cook until slightly golden and remove from pan to cool. Break par-cooked sausage into small crumbles.
3. Preheat oven to 500°.
4. Cut pizza dough in half and roll out to fit on a sheet pan. Before placing dough on the pan, spread 1/2 teaspoon avocado oil on the sheet pan. This is the secret to crispy crust.
5. Top dough with 1/2 of the caramelized onions, 1/2 Cup mozzarella, 1/2 of the crumbled chicken sausage, 1/2 of the thinly sliced pear and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden. Top with 2 Tablespoons pomegranate seeds and 2 Tablespoons fresh basil. Repeat to make 2 pizzas!
