Q: What are good carbs and bad carbs?
A: It is true that not all carbs are created equally, but referring to them as good and bad can be problematic because it turns eating into a moral issue. A more logical way to think about them is in terms of being healthy and unhealthy. Healthier carbs are unprocessed and unrefined (brown rice, oats, whole wheat pasta) and contain maximum levels of dietary fiber, vitamins and minerals. Unhealthier carbs are highly processed and refined (white bread, muffins, bagels) and have been stripped of nutrients.
